Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering commitment to transforming road infrastructure across Machakos County through enhanced project supervision and the delivery of high-quality, people-centered development.
As part of this commitment, Governor Ndeti directed the County Roads Engineer and the project contractor to undertake a joint inspection of the ongoing improvement works along the Devki–Pepe–Makadara–Vanillas Road. The exercise was aimed at assessing the progress of the project, evaluating the quality of works being undertaken, and ensuring full compliance with approved engineering standards and implementation timelines.
The Governor emphasized that effective monitoring of county projects remains a key pillar of her administration’s development agenda, ensuring that public investments deliver value for money while meeting the expectations of residents.
Beyond upgrading the road surface, the project incorporates critical Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) infrastructure designed to improve safety and accessibility for all road users. These include the construction of pedestrian walkways, dedicated bicycle lanes, modern drainage systems, street lighting, and the installation of bollards to enhance traffic management and protect pedestrians.
The integrated approach reflects Governor Ndeti’s vision of developing modern, inclusive, and sustainable transport infrastructure that caters not only to motorists but also to pedestrians, cyclists, and persons with disabilities.
Once completed, the Devki–Pepe–Makadara–Vanillas Road is expected to significantly improve connectivity within the area, ease the movement of people and goods, enhance road safety, and support local businesses by facilitating economic activities.
Governor Ndeti reiterated that her administration will continue prioritizing strategic infrastructure investments as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation across the county.
“We remain steadfast in delivering quality infrastructure projects that enhance connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for the people of Machakos County,” the Governor affirmed.
The ongoing road improvement project forms part of the county government’s broader infrastructure development programme aimed at opening up communities, strengthening urban mobility, and creating a safer, more efficient transport network that supports sustainable growth across Machakos County.
