Governor Wavinya Ndeti Launches KSh 120 Million Bursary Program to Support Over 32,000 Students

Machakos County has taken a significant step toward strengthening access to education following the official launch of the 2025/2026 bursary program by Governor Wavinya Ndeti. The launch event, held at Kithunguini Secondary School in Lower Kaewa Ward, Kathiani Sub County, underscores the county administration’s continued commitment to investing in the future of its learners.The bursary program, valued at KSh 120 million, is set to benefit 32,346 students across all wards in Machakos County. This latest initiative brings the cumulative number of beneficiaries to an impressive 124,846 students since Governor Ndeti assumed office highlighting a sustained and strategic focus on educational empowerment.Speaking during the launch, Governor Ndeti emphasized the transformative role of education in driving socio economic development. She noted that the bursary fund is designed to ease the financial burden faced by families, particularly those struggling to keep their children in school amid rising economic pressures.“This program ensures that no child is left behind due to lack of school fees. Education is the foundation upon which we are building a more inclusive, empowered, and prosperous Machakos,” she stated.
The governor reiterated her administration’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing education as a key pillar of development. By expanding access to financial support, the county aims to reduce dropout rates and improve academic continuity among learners.Residents and local leaders present at the event lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially for vulnerable households.
