The County Government of Machakos, under the leadership of H.E. Wavinya Ndeti, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening early childhood development by enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of daycare centres across the county

Through the Department of Education, Youth, ECDE, Vocational Skills and Training, the county administration continues to implement strategic measures aimed at ensuring daycare facilities operate effectively and respond to the growing needs of local communities. The initiative forms a critical component of Governor Ndeti’s broader socio-economic transformation blueprint, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” which seeks to uplift livelihoods and empower families across Machakos.

In a move that underscores the Governor’s deliberate investment in early learning, the Chief Officer for ECDE, Ms. Bernice Kioko, alongside partners from the University of Nairobi Women Economic Empowerment Hub and Jitegemee, convened a progressive consultative meeting focused on streamlining daycare centre operations. The discussions centred on policy alignment, development of sound budgeting frameworks, and strategies to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the facilities.
The consultative engagement reflects Governor Ndeti’s proactive approach to partnerships that strengthen service delivery and ensure that county programmes are both impactful and sustainable. By aligning policy and financial planning with community needs, the county government aims to create a strong foundation for early childhood education while supporting working parents.

Daycare facilities have increasingly become a cornerstone of the Governor’s development agenda. Notably, the Matuu and Machakos daycare centres are recording high enrolment numbers—clear evidence of the vital role these institutions play in providing safe, nurturing environments for young learners while enabling parents and guardians to actively participate in economic activities.

Under Governor Ndeti’s stewardship, the County Government of Machakos continues to prioritise early childhood development as a strategic investment in the county’s future, positioning daycare services as a catalyst for both educational excellence and socio-economic empowerment.
