Hon. Makali Mulu Champions Economic Empowerment with Ksh 4.2M Uwezo Fund Boost in Kitui

Hon. (Dr) Makali Mulu, CBS, and incoming Kitui County gubernatorial hopeful for 2027, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots empowerment by disbursing Ksh 4.2 million in Uwezo Fund cheques to 46 women and youth groups in Kitui Central Constituency.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the Kitui Central Constituency office, Dr. Mulu hailed the initiative as a significant stride towards uplifting local communities, particularly women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

“This is a big step in empowering our people to build sustainable livelihoods through income-generating activities,” he said, emphasizing that access to affordable credit remains a critical driver of socio-economic transformation in the county.

The Uwezo Fund, a government initiative, provides interest-free loans to registered groups to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance. Dr. Mulu noted that prudent use of these funds would not only enhance household incomes but also strengthen the local economy ahead of his envisioned countywide development agenda.

As the 2027 elections approach, the legislator’s focus on practical, community-based solutions continues to position him as a front-runner in the race for Kitui’s top seat, earning him growing support from various sectors of the county.
