Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has officially opened the 3rd Annual Regulatory Authorities and Agencies Conference at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) in Kitui County, issuing a strong call for regulators to shift focus from policy formulation to delivering tangible, measurable results that directly impact citizens’ lives.
Speaking during the high-level gathering that brought together leaders from various regulatory bodies and government agencies, Prof. Kindiki emphasized the need for efficiency, accountability, and real-world outcomes in public service. He noted that while frameworks and regulations are essential, their true value lies in how effectively they translate into improved service delivery, economic growth, and public trust.
The conference, held under the theme “Real Results on the Ground,” provided a platform for stakeholders to reflect on the performance of regulatory institutions and explore ways of enhancing coordination across sectors. The Deputy President urged agencies to embrace innovation, data-driven decision-making, and inter-agency collaboration to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks that often hinder progress.
Prof. Kindiki further underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening regulatory systems as a cornerstone of national development. He called on institutions to align their mandates with the broader development agenda, ensuring that policies not only exist on paper but are felt in communities across the country.
Leaders present echoed the Deputy President’s sentiments, acknowledging the need to bridge the gap between regulation and implementation. They pledged to adopt more responsive and citizen-centered approaches in executing their mandates.
The annual conference continues to serve as a critical forum for evaluating the effectiveness of Kenya’s regulatory landscape, with this year’s edition placing a renewed emphasis on accountability and results-driven
governance.
