Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki has announced his intention to engage Wiper Party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka in high-level talks aimed at pulling the veteran Ukambani politician out of the opposition ranks. Speaking during an empowerment program in Mutomo, Kitui South, Prof. Kindiki said it was time for “longtime friends to chart a common path” for the sake of development in the Ukambani region.
The Deputy President described Kalonzo as “a brother and a respected statesman” who, despite his current alignment with the opposition, has the vision and influence to help steer the region toward greater prosperity.
“Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka is a man I have worked with for many years. We may have walked different political paths in recent times, but we share a deep commitment to the people of this country and especially to Ukambani,” Kindiki told a cheering crowd. “It is time we come together and put the interests of the people above the games of impeachment and division.”
In what appeared to be a veiled attack on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kindiki accused unnamed individuals within the opposition and government of using deceit and political blackmail to isolate and destabilize national leaders.
“I want to tell my brother Kalonzo openly the people misleading you today are the same ones pushing for chaos and impeachment threats tomorrow. Let’s not be used against each other. Let’s work together to bring real change to Ukambani and Kenya as a whole,” Kindiki said.
Kindiki praised the Wiper leader’s track record, saying his political maturity and national appeal should not be “wasted on fruitless political theatre.” He added that a united front between himself and Kalonzo would unlock untapped potential in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, water, and agriculture across Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties.
“Development is not about noise. It’s about vision, partnership, and honest leadership. Kalonzo and I can deliver that for this region and for the country,” he affirmed.
The empowerment event, which saw hundreds of women and youth groups receive grants and drew local leaders and residents who welcomed the Deputy President’s message with enthusiasm. Many said a Kindiki-Kalonzo alliance would be a “refreshing and mature” political direction.
As the country inches closer to the mid-term political realignment season, Kindiki’s overture may prove a defining moment not just for Ukambani, but for Kenya’s political landscape.
