Kitui County Shines Brighter: Minister Kimanga Launches Streetlights in Key Shopping Center

In a landmark move toward community safety and urban development, the Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Waziri Fredrick Kimanga, today launched streetlights in various key locations across Kitui West. This initiative, part of the county’s broader commitment to infrastructure improvement, took place at Kwa Mboya, Mithiikwani, Kwa Mulungu, and Kathivo shopping centers.

“Lighting up our shopping centers is more than just an infrastructure project; it’s a commitment to safety, economic growth, and community well-being. With these streetlights, residents can now move freely at night, businesses can operate for longer hours, and crime rates will reduce significantly,” said Waziri Kimanga.

This project aligns with Governor Julius Malombe’s vision of restoring and revitalizing Kitui County under The Kitui Promise, a development blueprint aimed at fulfilling commitments made to the people of Kitui. Governor Malombe has remained steadfast in ensuring that such projects are not only launched but also effectively implemented to bring tangible benefits to the residents.

Residents and business owners in Kitui West have welcomed the initiative, expressing their gratitude for the government’s efforts in making the county safer and more accessible.

“For years, we have struggled with darkness in these shopping centers, making it unsafe to operate businesses at night. This project brings hope and progress to our community,” said a local trader at Kathivo.
