Kitui Governor, Dr Julius Malombe, today officially unveiled the Kitui Tourism Circuit during a colourful ceremony at the iconic Nzambani Rock, to coincide with World Tourism Day 2025.

In his address, the Governor described the circuit as a transformative step that will showcase Kitui’s diverse natural, cultural, and historical attractions. These include game reserves, eco-parks, bird sanctuaries, and heritage sites.

According to the county chief, the initiative is expected to generate employment, stimulate local enterprises, and position Kitui as a competitive tourism destination.

He noted that his administration is prioritizing investment in modern entry gates, eco-parks, and enhanced security measures. The county is also partnering with the Kenya Wildlife Service and other agencies to conserve natural resources and safeguard visitors.

“We are taking deliberate steps to protect and conserve our unique natural attractions, among them the South Kitui Game Reserve, the Mwingi North Game Reserve, and the Mutomo Reptile Park, while also erecting modern entry gates to improve access, safety, and visibility,” he said.
Dr Malombe further appealed to investors, development partners, and local communities to seize opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sector. He particularly urged young people and women to take an active role in enterprises linked to the industry.

The launch drew tourism stakeholders, community leaders, and visitors, marking a historic milestone in the county’s journey towards unlocking its vast heritage and economic potential.
