In a strategic move to enhance public health services across Kitui County, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has officially received five new motorcycles aimed at boosting field operations by Public Health Officers. The initiative is part of a broader county plan to strengthen service delivery at the grassroots level.
According to the ministry, an additional seven motorcycles are set to be delivered in the coming days all fully procured and financed by the County Government of Kitui.
During the official handover ceremony, Chief Officer for Public Health and Sanitation, Ms. Lynn Kitwan, underscored the importance of reliable transport in facilitating effective public health interventions, especially in remote areas.
“These motorcycles are more than just a mode of transport they are a critical investment in our mission to strengthen preventive and promotive health services,” said Ms. Kitwan. “With enhanced mobility, our officers will be able to carry out essential duties such as disease surveillance, health education, environmental inspections, and follow-up visits with greater ease and reach.”
She affirmed the ministry’s continued dedication to equipping frontline personnel with the tools and training they need to serve communities efficiently and uphold high standards of public health.
The distribution of the motorcycles will be ward-based, ensuring that officers in far-flung regions can deliver timely and quality services to residents.
This initiative reflects the County Government’s ongoing commitment to building a robust health system capable of responding to the diverse needs of its people, particularly those in underserved areas.
