Kitui Officer Turns to Music to Welcome Ruto Ahead of Mashujaa Day

As preparations intensify for the Mashujaa Day celebrations to be held in Kitui County on October 20, 2025, a local officer has chosen a unique way to mark the occasion  through song.

Prisons officer Cecilia Titus, based in Kitui, has released a heartfelt composition welcoming President William Ruto to the county and calling for peace, unity, and patriotism among Kenyans.

In her song, Ms Titus celebrates the spirit of national pride and acknowledges several development projects implemented in Kitui under the Ruto administration, including initiatives in infrastructure, education, water, and youth empowerment. The song, she says, is meant to appreciate national leadership while showcasing the county’s warmth and hospitality.

“My inspiration to join the Prison Service came from a deep desire to serve my country and make a positive difference in people’s lives,” Ms Titus said in an interview. “I believe in rehabilitation and second chances, and the service allows me to help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.”

Ms Titus says that beyond her uniform, music has always been part of her life. “Singing gives me the platform to reach people emotionally and share messages of hope, unity, and resilience,” she said. “Through this song, I wanted to express appreciation for President Ruto’s leadership and highlight Kitui’s pride in hosting this year’s national celebration.”

Her efforts have been widely lauded by colleagues and residents who see her as a peace ambassador using her talent to promote harmony across communities.
