Kitui County Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu on Saturday joined mourners in Kitui East to condole with the family of area Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbai during the burial of his late mother.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Kasalu expressed her heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, describing the late matriarch as a pillar of strength who had raised a leader dedicated to serving the people of Kitui East.
In her address, the Woman Representative used the occasion to underscore the importance of accessible education, insisting that learning should be free for all Kenyan children. She called on the government to ensure timely disbursement of capitation funds to schools, noting that delays disrupt learning and strain school administrations.
“Education is the greatest equalizer. The government must make it truly free by ensuring capitation funds are released on time, so that no child is sent home for lack of fees,” she said.
Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to championing policies that promote equitable education opportunities, adding that every child, regardless of background, deserves a fair chance to succeed.
The burial, attended by leaders, clergy, and hundreds of residents, was marked by messages of unity, faith, and calls for community support to the Mbai family during their time of grief.
