Machakos Assembly Health Committee Backs Strengthening of Health Governance Structures

The Machakos County Assembly Health Committee joined the County Health Management Team in a strategic planning workshop that also featured the induction of Level 3 and Level 4 Health Facility Boards and Committees, marking a major step towards strengthening healthcare governance in the county.

The engagement, which was held today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, underscored the county government’s continued dedication to improving governance structures and enhancing health service delivery.

The Committee, which is tasked with oversight and ensuring accountability within the health sector, welcomed the operationalization of the facility boards and committees, terming it a crucial move towards improving leadership, transparency, and service delivery in health facilities across Machakos County. Members observed that empowering health facility governance structures will play a key role in enhancing efficiency and responsiveness to residents’ healthcare needs.

The legislators further commended Machakos Governor H.E. Wavinya Ndeti, EGH, for her continued commitment to transforming the county’s health sector through progressive reforms and inclusive leadership. They noted that the governor’s support has significantly contributed to strengthening systems that ensure residents receive quality and accessible healthcare services.

The Committee also applauded the strong teamwork demonstrated by the County Health Management Team and the newly inducted board members, emphasizing that collaboration among stakeholders remains essential in achieving improved health outcomes for the people of Machakos County.
