Kitui Central MP Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, CBS, has warned against the sale of strategic national assets such as Safaricom and the Kenya Pipeline Company to foreign interests, saying such a move would endanger Kenya’s sovereignty and national security.
Speaking during an interview with a vernacular TV station, the seasoned legislator noted that Safaricom holds sensitive data belonging to millions of Kenyans and should not be entrusted to external entities. He argued that no responsible country would surrender control of its critical communication infrastructure to foreigners.
Dr. Makali also cautioned against selling the Kenya Pipeline Company, describing it as a key asset that guarantees the country’s fuel security. He warned that foreign ownership could expose Kenya to risks such as fuel supply disruptions.
The Kitui Central MP said the matter raises serious national concerns and affirmed his readiness to raise the issue on the floor of the House to safeguard Kenya’s strategic interests.
