Makali Mulu Slams Duale Over “Camel Ownership” Remarks, Demands Respect for Kamba Community

Kitui Central MP Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, on Tuesday intensified his development agenda with the launch and commissioning of key rehabilitation projects aimed at transforming special needs education across Kitui County.

In a move that underscores his commitment to inclusive development, Dr. Mulu presided over the rehabilitation of 13 classrooms, two dormitories, and a workshop at the Kitui School for the Mentally Handicapped. The upgraded facilities are expected to significantly improve the learning environment while strengthening vocational training opportunities for learners with special needs.

Later, the legislator commissioned a modern kitchen and equipment upgrade at the Kitui School for the Deaf, a project designed to enhance student welfare through improved nutrition and better living conditions.

Speaking during the events, Dr. Mulu reaffirmed his vision of a more inclusive and equitable education system, emphasizing that no learner should be left behind.

“These projects are about restoring dignity, expanding opportunity, and ensuring quality education for every child, regardless of their abilities,” he said. “As a county, we must invest in all our children if we are to achieve meaningful and sustainable development.”

The initiatives were warmly welcomed by local residents, education stakeholders, and parents, many of whom described the projects as timely and transformative for the future of special needs learners in the region.

However, Dr. Mulu also delivered a strong political message, sharply criticizing Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale over recent remarks he termed as disrespectful and divisive towards the Kamba community.

He called on the CS to respect all communities and expressed outrage over statements suggesting ownership of camels, terming them provocative and capable of inciting division.

“It is unfortunate for any leader to make remarks that demean communities. Such statements must be condemned and regretted,” Dr. Mulu said.
His sentiments were met with applause from sections of the public, highlighting growing concern over the need for unity and respectful leadership across the country.

With a blend of development action and firm political stance, Dr. Mulu continues to position himself as a key figure in Kitui’s leadership landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
