Malombe Hails County Secretary Agnes Mulewa as a Symbol of Women’s Leadership During International Women’s Day Celebrations

Julius Malombe, the Governor of Kitui County, publicly recognized and congratulated Agnes Mulewa for her appointment as the County Secretary, describing her elevation to the powerful administrative position as a major milestone for women in leadership.

Speaking during the International Women’s Day celebrations held at Nyuani Primary School in Mutonguni Ward, Kitui West, Governor Malombe said Mulewa’s appointment reflects the growing recognition of women’s capacity to lead and deliver in top decision-making positions.

The county boss praised Mulewa’s professional achievements and dedication to public service, noting that her rise to the office of County Secretary serves as an inspiration to many women and young girls across the county.

Governor Malombe emphasized that the county government remains committed to empowering women and ensuring they are given equal opportunities to serve in leadership roles.

He said Mulewa’s appointment demonstrates the county’s deliberate efforts to promote capable women into strategic positions where they can contribute to development and effective governance.

“Her achievement is not only personal but also a reflection of the progress women are making in leadership,” the governor said, adding that the recognition of women in governance is key to building a more inclusive and progressive society.
The remarks came as leaders and residents gathered to commemorate International Women’s Day, a global event that celebrates the achievements of women while also advocating for gender equality and greater participation of women in leadership.

During the celebrations, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting women empowerment programs and strengthening their role in shaping the development agenda of Kitui County.

Mulewa’s recognition during the event was received with applause from the audience, with many viewing it as a strong endorsement from the governor and a sign of confidence in her leadership as she takes up the critical role of coordinating the county government’s operations.
