Matinyani Ward MCA, Hon. Sylvester Munyalo Kitheka, popularly known as Yamu, has made a bold political statement, declaring that come the 2027 general elections, only two Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) in Kitui will survive the ballot and he is confident he is one of them.
Speaking during a special event at Matinyani Boys High School, where Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe officially opened a newly constructed administration block, Yaamu who’s the area MCA said the growing trend of political poverty and shifting voter dynamics make it difficult for most sitting MCAs to secure re-election.
“With the way political poverty is shaping leadership in this country, it is becoming clear that very few MCAs will return after 2027,” he said. “In fact, from where I stand, only two MCAs will make it back and I am proud to say I am one of them.”
The administration block, which was promised by Governor Malombe during a previous visit, was officially handed over to the school during the function. MCA Kitheka praised the governor for fulfilling his pledge and reaffirmed his own commitment to championing development in Matinyani Ward.
“This new block is a testimony of fulfilled promises. Our leadership, both at the county and ward levels, is focused on delivering real change, especially in the education sector,” Kitheka added.
Governor Malombe lauded the collaboration between the county government and local leaders in delivering key infrastructure, noting that education remains a top priority for his administration.
The event was attended by the kitui deputy governor Augustine kanani, county ministers , chief officers local leaders, education stakeholders, parents, students, and residents of Matinyani, who commended the development and expressed their hope for continued progress in the ward.
