Pedestrian Killed While Attempting to Cross Thika Road Near Garden City

A man lost his life on Saturday morning after being struck by a speeding vehicle while attempting to cross the busy Thika Road near Garden City Mall.

Witnesses say the man dashed across the eight-lane highway from Homeland Restaurant toward the mall, opting to run underneath a nearby footbridge instead of using it. He was hit by one vehicle before another ran over him, leaving him trapped beneath it.

Passersby managed to pull the body from under the car as motorists watched in shock. The victim, who is yet to be identified, died instantly.

The incident caused a major traffic snarl-up along the busy highway as police were yet to arrive at the scene to remove the body and restore traffic flow.
