Senator Kiio Wambua Warns Kitui West DCC Against Political Interference

Kitui West, Kenya – Kitui County Senator and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate, Enock Kiio Wambua, has issued a stern warning to Kitui West Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Atemi Elizabeth, over alleged political interference in the constituency.

Speaking during a public gathering in Kitui West, Senator Kiio expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the DCC, accusing her of engaging in political activities instead of focusing on service delivery. He cautioned Atemi against aligning herself with certain political aspirants eyeing the Kitui West parliamentary seat in the 2027 general elections.

“The role of a DCC is to serve the people, not to play politics. If Atemi wants to engage in campaigns, she should resign and join the political arena. Otherwise, she must respect the mandate given to her by the President and serve all residents without bias,” Senator Kiio stated firmly.

The senator emphasized that government administrators must remain neutral and avoid being used by politicians to advance their personal interests. He urged the national government to closely monitor its officers in Kitui West and ensure they strictly adhere to their duties without favoring any political faction.

Kitui West residents present at the event echoed the senator’s sentiments, calling for fair governance and impartial service from government officials. Many expressed concern that political interference by state officers could derail development projects meant to benefit the community.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, political tensions are expected to rise, with different aspirants seeking influence. However, Senator Kiio made it clear that government officials should stay out of politics and focus on their constitutional madate
