A funeral in Makele village turned chaotic after representatives of local MCA Cyrus Musyoka, commonly known as Sonko, were booed and rejected by mourners.
Musyoka, who skipped the burial of retired teacher Kisengese Ndunga, sent a delegation that arrived late and demanded to speak early. Their move angered attendees, who accused them of disrupting the somber event for political posturing.
Chants of “Keti chini!” erupted as the team attempted to make pledges, with the crowd drowning them out in protest. Matters worsened when they announced a Ksh 2,000 donation from the MCA—sparking jeers and outright rejection. Locals saw the offer as an insult amid mounting frustrations over poor roads, youth unemployment, and the MCA’s persistent absence.
Residents voiced deep disappointment, accusing Musyoka of neglecting the ward and delivering empty promises through proxies. Some openly declared their desire for new leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
The incident reflects rising political dissatisfaction in the ward, with constituents signaling they are fed up with what they describe as absentee and unaccountable leadership.
On his side the mca said ,”this is a political creation”.
