Malombe Taps Top Talent for Key County Posts After Competitive Search

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has nominated three candidates for critical leadership positions within the county government, following a rigorous and transparent recruitment exercise.

In a move that underscores his commitment to merit-based appointments, the Governor has forwarded the names of Agnes Kawila Mulewa (County Secretary), Timothy Kyalo Muange (County Attorney), and Christopher Okumu Ombunya (Secretary, County Public Service Board) to the County Assembly for vetting. The nominations were officially submitted on August 5, 2025.

The selection process, conducted by a panel chaired by Dr. Nzomo Mwita, was initiated after a public call for applications published on June 30, 2025, which attracted 63 qualified applicants. Governor Malombe emphasized that the nominees emerged as top-ranked candidates in their respective categories and were selected in line with the provisions of the County Governments (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Speaking on the nominations, Dr. Malombe reaffirmed that the appointments reflect the county’s adherence to the principles of fairness, competence, inclusivity, and equal opportunity, as enshrined in the Constitution.

If approved by the County Assembly, the trio is expected to play a central role in advancing the Governor’s development agenda and strengthening service delivery across Kitui County.
