Makueni MCA Raises Alarm Over Alleged Death Threats, Files Police Report

Thange Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Erick Katumo, has come forward with serious allegations claiming that his life is in danger due to threats from some of his colleagues within the Makueni County Assembly.

According to Katumo, he has received credible information suggesting that a plot is underway to poison him, allegedly orchestrated by fellow MCAs. The MCA says the threats have intensified in recent days, prompting him to report the matter to the authorities.

On August 5, 2025, Katumo filed a formal complaint at the Makueni Police Station under OB number 32. The incident has been recorded as a case of “threatening to kill.” A police acknowledgment slip seen by this reporter confirms the complaint, with the stamp of the Kenya Police Service visibly affixed.

Speaking to the press, Katumo stated:

“I have reason to believe that my life is at risk. This is not just political intimidation  it’s a direct threat to my safety. I have done my part by reporting to the relevant authorities and I hope investigations will be done swiftly and professionally.”

The police have not yet issued an official statement, but sources indicate that preliminary investigations are underway to assess the nature and source of the threats.

Residents of Thange and various local leaders have called for swift action and protection for the MCA, urging law enforcement to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

This incident adds to growing concerns over political tensions within county assemblies across the country, with calls being made for tolerance, dialogue, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
