Kitui Senator Enock Kiio Wambua, who has declared his bid for the Kitui governorship, today toured Kisasi Market and Kwa Kinyai, where he engaged residents on his vision for the county.
Kiio pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would protect Kitui’s natural resources and ensure that no sand is scooped from rivers across the county, warning against what he described as the exploitation of Kitui’s sand wealth by cartels.
The Senator said he had faced repeated threats from alleged sand barons and other sand cartels over his stand, but maintained that he would not be intimidated.
Kiio also promised residents that under his leadership, “no camel will graze on the land of Kitui,” in a statement he said reflected his determination to safeguard the county’s resources for its people.
