Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has firmly dismissed claims that her administration intends to replace Tala Dam with a bus park, terming the allegations as unfounded propaganda meant to mislead the public.
Speaking while addressing concerns raised by residents and stakeholders, the governor said there was neither a plan nor any justification for converting the dam into a transport facility. She emphasized that Tala Dam remains a critical water resource for Machakos County and its protection is a top priority for her government.
“There is no plan or whatsoever reason to replace Tala Dam with a bus park. Those claims are mere propaganda,” Governor Ndeti said. “Our priority is to protect and restore Tala Dam by ensuring the water remains clean and safe.”
The governor noted that her administration has consistently focused on safeguarding natural resources, particularly water catchment areas, as part of a broader strategy to enhance water security and public health across the county. She added that any development undertaken by the county government must align with environmental conservation and the long-term interests of residents.
Governor Ndeti further urged members of the public to rely on verified information from official county channels, warning that misinformation not only causes unnecessary alarm but also undermines collective efforts to protect vital infrastructure.
Tala Dam is one of Machakos County’s key water sources, serving thousands of residents and supporting local economic activities. The governor’s clarification is expected to ease public concern and reaffirm the county government’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
