Aspirants eyeing the Wiper Patriotic Front ticket in 2027 have suffered a major setback after party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka firmly dismissed expectations of direct nominations.
Kalonzo declared that all candidates must follow the party’s laid-down nomination procedures, vowing that no one will be handed a free ticket.
“Wiper is a democratic party. Everyone must go through nominations. The people will decide,” he stated.
The remarks were made during an event that also marked the renaming of Kyuso Girls’ Secondary School to Mama Pauline Kalonzo Girls’ Kyuso, following a successful public participation process after the community proposed the name change.
The announcement has shaken aspirants who had hoped loyalty or influence would guarantee them automatic endorsement, setting the stage for competitive party primaries ahead of the 2027 General Election.
