Wavinya Ndeti announced a major boost to the health sector during her State of the County Address, emphasizing that availability of medicine was key to quality healthcare.
The Governor stated that her administration had increased the annual allocation for medical commodities from KSh 128 million to KSh 290 million, noting that building facilities alone did not cure patients without adequate drugs.
She further said the county had been paying the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) on time, earning Machakos recognition for excellence in commodities management.
Governor Ndeti added that the county’s fill rate had improved significantly, ensuring that patients visiting public hospitals were able to access the medicines they needed.
