“I Own the Barrier, Stay There at Your Own Risk,” CO Makau Warns Junior Revenue Collectors

Mwingi Central is in uproar after a leaked audio recording allegedly captured Chief Officer Makau threatening an enforcement officer and claiming control over a public barrier linked to sand harvesting operations.

In the recording, a voice believed to be Makau’s is heard saying, “This is my barrier. Leave it! Who has sent you there?” words that have sparked outrage among residents who have long accused powerful figures of protecting illegal sand harvesting cartels.

The controversial sand trade has devastated local rivers and has been linked to fatal accidents and environmental destruction. Residents now question why a senior county official would claim a public enforcement point as personal property and confront an officer for doing his duty.

The audio has intensified calls for urgent investigations into alleged abuse of office and protection of illegal sand operations.

As anger grows, one question dominates public debate: is public authority being used to serve the people or to shield a deadly sand harvesting empire?
