Governor Wavinya Ndeti Champions Open Governance as Machakos Strengthens Partnership with Mzalendo Trust

Machakos County is taking bold steps toward deepening transparency, accountability and citizen engagement following a high level meeting between the county leadership and Mzalendo Trust, a key player in promoting democratic governance in Kenya.Led by Wavinya Ndeti, the Machakos County Government hosted Mzalendo Trust for a strategic engagement aimed at advancing the principles of the Open Government Partnership (OGP). The discussions underscored the county’s commitment to building a governance system that is inclusive, participatory, and responsive to the needs of its people.Governor Ndeti emphasized the importance of placing citizens at the center of decision-making processes, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when communities are actively involved. “Our goal is to ensure that every resident of Machakos has a voice and that government processes remain open, transparent, and accountable,” she stated.The engagement focused on strengthening mechanisms for citizen participation, enhancing access to public information, and reinforcing accountability frameworks within county institutions.
