Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to strengthening the transport sector and creating an enabling environment for businesses following the official flagging off of a new fleet of UMOWA Public Service Vehicles.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Ndeti described the introduction of the 10 mini-bus matatus as a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to enhance mobility, support enterprise growth, and stimulate economic development.
The Governor noted that the new fleet will improve connectivity across the county, enhance service delivery, and provide reliable transport solutions for residents and traders. She emphasized that efficient transportation is a key driver of economic transformation, opening up opportunities for trade, commerce, and investment.
“This new fleet represents more than just additional vehicles on our roads. It is an investment in our people, our businesses, and the future prosperity of Machakos County. Improved mobility means expanded opportunities for trade and easier access to markets, while also creating employment opportunities for our youth,” Governor Wavinya Ndeti said.
The county chief further underscored her administration’s dedication to fostering a conducive environment that encourages entrepreneurship and attracts investment. She said strategic investments in infrastructure and transport are central to the county’s development agenda and its vision of building a vibrant and sustainable economy.
The addition of the 10 mini-bus matatus is expected to strengthen public transport services, create jobs for drivers and support staff, and contribute to increased economic activity across the county.
