Governor Wavinya Ndeti Strengthens Maternal Healthcare with Official Opening of Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare following the official opening of the new maternity wing at Kyaume Dispensary, a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to strengthen maternal and child health services. The newly commissioned facility is expected to transform healthcare delivery for mothers and newborns by bringing essential maternity services closer to the people. The maternity wing will serve a catchment population of more than 5,200 residents drawn from Sengani, Katine, Makuie, Mangauni and Manza villages, providing a vital lifeline to expectant mothers in the area.Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Wavinya emphasized that investing in healthcare infrastructure remains a top priority of her administration, noting that every mother deserves access to safe, dignified and quality maternity care regardless of where they live. The new facility is projected to benefit an estimated 600 women while handling an average of 20 deliveries every month. By reducing the distance expectant mothers travel to seek skilled birth services, the maternity wing is expected to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes while minimizing delays in accessing emergency obstetric care.Governor Wavinya said the project reflects her government’s deliberate investment in strengthening primary healthcare services across the county, ensuring communities have access to quality and affordable healthcare at the grassroots level. She reiterated that expanding healthcare infrastructure, equipping health facilities and improving service delivery are key pillars in the county’s agenda of achieving Universal Health Coverage, with a focus on ensuring that no resident is left behind. The commissioning of the Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing marks yet another milestone in the county government’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access, improve maternal and child health, and build a resilient health system that responds effectively to the needs of every mwananchi.
