Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s commitment to ensuring every household has access to clean, safe, and reliable water continues to bear fruit, with the successful implementation of the Syanthi–MAKAWASCO Waterline project in Kangundo West Ward.
The transformative project has seen three kilometres of waterline reticulated, bringing a dependable water supply to more than 400 households across the villages of Syanthi, Kwa Kilee, and Kathunguli.
The initiative marks another major milestone in the County Government’s efforts to improve access to essential services while enhancing the quality of life for residents.
For years, many families in the area, particularly women, school going children, and the elderly, have been forced to walk long distances in search of clean water. With the completion of the project, this burden has been significantly reduced, allowing residents to access safe water closer to their homes and dedicate more time to education, income generating activities, and other productive pursuits.
Beyond meeting domestic water needs, the Syanthi–MAKAWASCO Waterline is expected to boost agricultural production by supporting irrigation and livestock farming, strengthen food security, improve household livelihoods, and create greater economic opportunities for local communities.
The project underscores Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s unwavering commitment to investing in sustainable water infrastructure as a key driver of socio economic transformation. It also advances her development agenda of “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni”, which seeks to empower families through improved food production, enhanced livelihoods, and increased household incomes.
Through strategic investments in water infrastructure across Machakos County, Governor Wavinya Ndeti continues to deliver practical and lasting solutions that are transforming communities and fostering inclusive, sustainable development.
