ADRA Kenya and Kitui County Unite to Empower Women in Miambani on International Women’s Day

 

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Kenya, in collaboration with the Kitui County Government, and other partners played a pivotal role in making this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations a resounding success. The event, held at Miambani Ward in Kitui Central, brought together women leaders, community members, and key stakeholders to champion gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Leading the ADRA Kenya team was Hellen Kasila, whose leadership and commitment to women’s rights were evident throughout the event. The organization worked hand in hand with the county government to organize a series of activities that highlighted the role of women in economic development, leadership, and social progress.

A Day of Inspiration and Empowerment

The celebrations featured inspiring speeches, panel discussions, and success stories from local women who have excelled in various fields. Themed around Accelerate action the event emphasized the need for continued investment in women’s education, health, and entrepreneurship.

Kitui County government officials praised ADRA Kenya for its commitment to advancing gender equality in the region. “Today, we celebrate the resilience and achievements of women in Kitui. With partners like ADRA Kenya, we can ensure that women have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive,” said one county representative.

Women entrepreneurs showcased their products in an exhibition that aimed to promote local businesses and economic self-reliance. Additionally, health awareness campaigns were conducted, focusing on maternal health, reproductive rights, and gender-based violence prevention.

Community Impact and Future Commitments

Governor Malombe’s dedication to supporting women in Kitui and beyond. “Empowering women is not just about celebrating them today; it’s about creating sustainable solutions that uplift entire communities. We are proud to work alongside the county government to make a lasting impact,” he stated.

As the event concluded, participants left with renewed hope and motivation to drive change in their communities. ADRA Kenya and the Kitui County Government pledged to continue their collaboration, ensuring that the progress made on this day extends far beyond the celebrations.
