BURIALS OR CAMPAIGNS? MBOONI MP ERUSTUS KIVASU BLASTED FOR POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING AT FUNERALS

Embattled Mbooni MP Erustus Kivasu Nzioka is under intense public backlash after residents accused him of shamelessly turning burial ceremonies into political stages.

What should be sacred moments of grief and unity are, according to locals, now being reduced to extended political rallies. The MP is said to be taking up to one hour at funerals not to mourn with families but to defend his development record, justify bursary allocations, and even open the floor for questions as though addressing a campaign rally.

Angry residents say the trend is insensitive, disrespectful, and deeply offensive to grieving families.
“Burials are not campaign grounds. We are mourning, not auditing bursary funds,” one resident fumed.

Critics argue that instead of offering brief condolences and standing in solidarity with the bereaved, the legislator is using emotionally charged gatherings to polish his image amid growing scrutiny over his performance.

The outrage has now sparked a serious debate across the constituency: Is it morally right for a leader to turn a funeral into a political defense platform?

For many in Mbooni, the answer is clear grief should never be exploited for political survival.
