Kyangwithya West MCA and Kitui County Assembly Deputy Speaker Christopher Nzilu Nzioka has called for unity, collective responsibility, and sustained investment in education as key pillars for community development.
Speaking during a meeting of the Ethanga Welfare Association, Nzioka underscored the importance of organized community groups in uplifting members’ welfare and securing a better future for the next generation. The meeting brought together members of the association under the leadership of its patron, with deliberations focusing on social support, education, and strengthening internal cohesion.
Nzioka, who also serves as the Deputy Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly, described unity as the foundation upon which meaningful development is built. He emphasized that when community members work together, they are better positioned to address shared challenges, pool resources, and support vulnerable families.
A central focus of his address was education. The Kyangwithya West MCA urged the association to prioritize educational support for children from member families, noting that education remains the most powerful tool for long-term empowerment. He encouraged collective initiatives such as education funds and mentorship programs to ensure learners remain in school and excel academically.
The Deputy Speaker further highlighted the role of welfare associations in promoting mutual support and peaceful coexistence among members. He called on the Ethanga Welfare Association to strengthen cooperation, accountability, and transparency in its activities, adding that such values foster trust and sustainable progress.
Community leaders present lauded Nzioka’s commitment to grassroots development, describing his engagement as a clear demonstration of servant leadership.
They reiterated their resolve to work closely with elected leaders to advance education, unity, and socio-economic well-being within Ethanga and the wider Kitui region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by members to deepen collaboration, enhance education-focused initiatives, and maintain unity as the association continues to play a pivotal role in community development.
