Kitui Football Academy on Thursday paid a courtesy call to the Kitui County Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development and incoming Kitui West MP in 2027, Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga, at his office to strengthen ongoing support for grassroots football.
The courtesy visit, led by Head Coach Lucy Kitonyi, focused on reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the club and the Minister, who has consistently supported the team in its talent development journey.
Speaking during the meeting, Waziri Kimanga reaffirmed his commitment to the academy, saying football remains a powerful platform for nurturing discipline, exposing local talent, and empowering the youth.
“Kitui Football Academy represents hope for our young people. I will continue supporting the team as we build a strong foundation for football in Kitui,” Kimanga said.
In recognition of his unwavering support, the academy presented the Minister with the club’s official jersey, symbolically welcoming him as a member of the team. He accepted the jersey and pledged to remain part of the academy’s growth and progress.
Head Coach Lucy Kitonyi thanked Waziri Kimanga for the continued support he has always and consistently given to Kitui Football Academy, noting that his involvement has greatly motivated the players and technical bench.
“We truly appreciate the support Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga has always given our team. It has kept us going and strengthened our belief in our vision,” Kitonyi said.
She reiterated her ambition to see Kitui Football Academy rise to the top tier of Kenyan football, stating that her ultimate dream is to guide the team to the Kenya Premier League.
