National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli has strongly condemned the alarming wave of killings targeting women in Kitui County, calling on security agencies to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Speaking during peaceful demonstrations held in Kitui Town, Dr. Kyalo expressed concern over the recent murders of four women whose bodies were reportedly dumped in different parts of the Kalundu area within a period of less than two months. He described the incidents as disturbing, inhumane, and a threat to the safety of women and families across the county.
Leading demonstrators from Kalundu through the Kitui Bus Park and finally to the office of Kitui County Commissioner Erasmus Mbui, Dr. Kyalo demanded immediate action from security agencies. He urged investigators to provide clear information on the killings and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
“The people of Kitui deserve answers. Women should be able to live, work, and move freely without fear. We cannot remain silent as innocent lives continue to be lost,” said Dr. Kyalo.
At the County Commissioner’s office, the NLP leader presented a petition calling for justice for the victims, enhanced security measures, and stronger protection for women and vulnerable members of society.
Dr. Kyalo further challenged security officers to intensify investigations and restore public confidence by ensuring transparency and accountability in the ongoing probe.
The demonstrations remained peaceful as residents joined the call for justice, with many expressing fears over the growing insecurity and demanding urgent intervention from authorities.
