Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality and accessible healthcare across the county, following the official commissioning of key upgraded health infrastructure at Matiliku Sub-county Hospital.
Speaking during the launch, Governor Mutula emphasized that healthcare remains a central pillar of his development agenda, highlighting that the newly commissioned digital X-ray machine, dental unit, and a fully renovated outpatient department were not just infrastructure improvements, but critical tools to bring dignity, efficiency, and reliability to medical services at the grassroots.
“We are not just opening buildings. We are delivering hope, restoring trust in our public health system, and bringing quality services closer to the people. This is what universal health coverage looks like in action,” Governor Mutula declared to an enthusiastic crowd.
The governor noted that these enhancements are part of a broader county strategy aimed at decongesting the Makueni County Referral Hospital and minimizing unnecessary referrals. He reiterated that his government is investing in modern equipment, skilled personnel, and community-oriented health solutions to ensure no resident is left behind in the journey toward a healthier Makueni.
Mutula praised the staff at Matiliku Hospital for their dedication and urged them to embrace the upgraded systems fully to improve patient care.
The event drew a wide array of leaders who came to support the county’s healthcare transformation, including Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, County Assembly Speaker Douglas Mbilu, area MCA Francis Mutuku, Kyalo Mumo (Tulimani), Majority Leader Kisungi wa Katete (Kithungo/Kitundu), and several other county officials.
Governor Mutula closed his remarks by assuring residents that more health upgrades are in the pipeline, stating that every ward in Makueni deserves a facility equipped to serve with excellence.
