Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has launched nine strategic documents aimed at improving healthcare delivery, strengthening nutrition services and reducing maternal and newborn deaths across the county.
Speaking during the launch in Wote, Governor Mutula reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality healthcare, stressing that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. He emphasized the need for stronger interventions to protect mothers and newborns, noting that every maternal death is a tragedy.
The documents include the Makueni County Multi Sectoral Food and Nutrition Security Policy, the Makueni Nutrition Action Plan 2025/26–2029/30, the EWENE Acceleration Plan 2026–2028 and the Makueni County Health Research Agenda 2026–2030.
The initiative brings together multiple county departments and development partners to address malnutrition, food insecurity and maternal and newborn health challenges.
Governor Mutula said the collaborative approach would strengthen health planning and support improved health outcomes for mothers, children and families across Makueni County.
