Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. Pushes for Stronger Security Partnership to Address Makueni’s Emerging Challenges.

Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has called for stronger collaboration between the Makueni County Government and national security agencies to effectively address emerging security challenges while fostering an environment that supports sustainable development and improved livelihoods. The governor made the remarks when he hosted Eastern Regional Commissioner Jacob Ouma Muganda during a courtesy visit at his office on Thursday, where the two leaders discussed strategies for strengthening peace, security  and service delivery across the county.Governor Mutula highlighted the growing threat of human wildlife conflict, vandalism of public infrastructure, and illegal sand harvesting cartels, urging security agencies to intensify coordinated efforts with the county government to safeguard public resources and protect communities. He further emphasized the importance of dialogue and consensus in resolving social and political disputes, noting that peaceful engagement remains the most effective approach to building unity and lasting stability. The governor also applauded security agencies for their continued partnership with the county government, describing the successful implementation of the Huduma Mashinani outreach programme as a clear demonstration of what can be achieved through coordinated service delivery.

Addressing broader social concerns, Governor Mutula observed that many cases of gender based violence, suicide, and family conflicts stem from unresolved land succession disputes. He said the county government has already initiated interventions to address the underlying causes and appealed for continued collaboration from security agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen community cohesion and promote lasting peace.Eastern Regional Commissioner Jacob Ouma Muganda commended the close working relationship between the Makueni County Government and security agencies, saying the partnership has significantly enhanced peace, security, and efficient service delivery. He encouraged continued cooperation between the national and county governments to accelerate development and improve the quality of life for Makueni residents.ENDS///…
