Governor Wavinya Ndeti Advances Water Access and Livelihoods Through Kwa-Savi Weir.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration is strengthening access to reliable water in Machakos County through strategic investments aimed at improving livelihoods, enhancing food security and building community resilience.A key project is the Kwa-Savi Weir in Kaani, Lower Kaewa Ward, Kathiani Sub-County, which has a storage capacity of 30,000 cubic metres and is expected to benefit approximately 1,000 residents by providing a dependable source of water for domestic and economic activities.

Under Governor Ndeti’s leadership, the project will be further enhanced through the fencing of the reservoir and construction of a cattle trough. Plans are also underway to reticulate water to Kathuni Market and surrounding villages, extending access to more households and businesses. The increased availability of water will support domestic needs, livestock keeping and small-scale vegetable farming, enabling residents to pursue more sustainable sources of food and income. The Kwa-Savi Weir is part of Governor Ndeti’s broader commitment to expanding water infrastructure across Machakos, particularly in communities where reliable water access is critical to improving living standards and strengthening local economic activity.Through continued investment in water projects, Governor Ndeti’s administration is laying a stronger foundation for food security, improved household livelihoods and greater resilience among Machakos residents.ENDS///…
