Governor Wavinya Ndeti Champions Women’s Empowerment Through Sports

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on women and young girls to embrace sports as a powerful pathway to empowerment, success, and global recognition.

Speaking to the Lower Eastern Digital Media, Governor Ndeti lauded Kenya’s Beatrice Chebet for her remarkable triumph in the women’s 5000 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, describing her victory as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire nation.

“As we continue to celebrate the win of our champion Beatrice Chebet, I urge women and young girls to embrace sports as a path to empowerment, success, and global recognition,” the Governor said.

Governor Ndeti underscored her administration’s strong commitment to promoting sports and nurturing talent across all disciplines, noting that Machakos County has immense potential to produce athletes who can shine on the global stage.

“My administration remains fully committed to supporting sports and nurturing talent across all disciplines, ensuring that champions emerge from our county to shine on the global stage,” she affirmed.

She emphasized that sports not only provide opportunities for international recognition but also serve as a vehicle for personal growth, discipline, and economic empowerment, especially for women and youth in the region.

Governor Ndeti’s remarks come at a time when Kenya continues to dominate the global athletics scene, with Machakos positioning itself as a hub for nurturing the next generation of champions.
