Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has taken decisive action in her relentless fight against corruption by suspending more than 30 county officers implicated in massive revenue collection fraud.
The Governor, who has consistently maintained that her administration will not tolerate any form of graft, revealed that rogue county officers have been colluding with members of the public to siphon funds, underreport revenue, and issue fake permits and receipts, despite the county’s heavy investment in a modern digital revenue collection system.
Governor Wavinya confirmed that the suspended staff were drawn from various key departments including Administration, Trade, Liquor, Solid Waste, ICT, Billing, and Revenue. She further disclosed that all cases have been forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for thorough investigations and prosecution.
“These officers have betrayed the trust of the people of Machakos. My government will not entertain corruption in any form. Every single coin collected must go into development projects that benefit our people, not into the pockets of a few individuals,” Governor Wavinya firmly stated.
Among those suspended are: Purity Kanini (Administration Officer), Joseph Martin Mutuku (Trade Officer), Mary Titus and Wickliffe Nzeki (Liquor Department), Evelyn Wambua (Cashier), Jacinta Kithuka (Solid Waste), as well as multiple officers from the Billing Department including Mary Nthenya, Esther Mutunga, Byria Wambui, Phoebe Mbutu, David Witio Mutua, Sarah Katungwa Titus, Evelyn Ndanu Wambua, Hellen Muendo, Cynthia Mumo, Charity Mbolu, Dorothy Nzioka Kasiva, Patricia Nthenya Mutisya, Jacklina Musyoka, Meshach Kiminza, Richard Muli Manthi, Joseph Muli, Maryanne Mbula, and Alice Maingi.
Others include Marrietta Ndunge Munyoki (Cashier), Clinton Sylivester Mwania (Cashier), Mark Yawaya (Revenue Officer), Joseph Nthiwa (Revenue Officer), Joseph Mutuku and Tony Gige (ICT), Mutuku Stephen, Jackline Kivuva, Yvonne Chelangat, and Angelina Muindi, all from the Revenue Department.
The Governor underscored that her administration is committed to sealing all revenue leakages to ensure that Machakos County achieves financial discipline, accountability, and development.
“Machakos belongs to the people, and I will not allow anyone to rob them of their rightful services. We are setting an example that corruption has no place in my government,” she emphasized.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s bold step has been widely welcomed by residents and stakeholders, who see it as a clear demonstration of her commitment to transparency, integrity, and good governance.
