Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has launched a major livestock development initiative in Upper Kaewa Ward, Kathiani Sub-County, aimed at protecting livestock from disease and improving the quality and productivity of local breeds.
The Governor officially launched the E-Voucher vaccination programme against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), providing farmers with a more accessible and efficient way of accessing livestock vaccination services.
Governor Ndeti also launched an Artificial Insemination (AI) programme, a key intervention expected to help farmers improve livestock breeds, increase milk and meat production and strengthen household incomes.
The initiatives underscore Governor Ndeti’s commitment to supporting farmers and transforming livestock farming into a more productive and sustainable economic activity in Machakos County.
Through the programmes, the county government is seeking to strengthen disease prevention while giving farmers access to improved breeding services and better livestock genetics.
The launches in Upper Kaewa reaffirm Governor Ndeti’s development agenda of placing agriculture and livestock farming at the centre of efforts to improve livelihoods and boost the county’s local economy.
