Governor Wavinya Ndeti Reaffirms Her Commitment to Ending Water Shortages in Machakos County

Machakos Governor  Wavinya Ndeti has reiterated her unwavering commitment to ensuring that every resident of Machakos County has access to clean, safe, and reliable water  terming water as a “vital resource for healthy and dignified living.”

The Governor spoke after holding a strategic meeting with officials from the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB), led by Acting CEO Mr. Cheruiyot, who paid her a courtesy call at her office.

During the meeting, Governor Wavinya and the WASREB delegation discussed key strategies aimed at addressing the persistent water challenges across Machakos County, with a particular focus on accelerating water sector reforms to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Governor Wavinya emphasized that her administration is fully committed to transforming the county’s water sector through the expansion of infrastructure, rehabilitation of existing systems, and strengthening of governance within water service providers.

“We are determined to ensure that every household in Machakos enjoys clean and sufficient water supply. My government will continue to partner with national agencies and development stakeholders to make this a reality,” she stated.

She further noted that access to clean water is not only a matter of public health but also a catalyst for social and economic growth.

The meeting underscored Governor Wavinya’s proactive leadership in addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing the county. Her continued engagement with national agencies and sector regulators positions Machakos as a model county in implementing practical and people-centered water reforms.
