The Fuliza Cup football tournament climaxed in style at Manze Itumo Primary School, Kwa Mutonga, in Kithumula Ward, Kitui West Constituency, with the finals drawing huge crowds and attracting key political leadership.
The tournament featured 14 teams, including Under-13 boys’ teams, senior teams, and girls’ teams from Kalimbevo and Itumo. Among the participating teams were Itumo FC Team A and B, Kwa Vonza FC, Kalimbevo Team A and B, Kiuwani FC, Kalimani FC, Syokithumbi FC, Mikauni FC, and Jika FC. The boys’ Under-13 category featured teams from Itumo and Kalimbevo.
The finals pitted Kwa Vonza FC against Itumo FC Team A, with Kwa Vonza FC emerging winners, successfully defending their Fuliza Cup title.
The event was graced by Kitui West incoming Member of Parliament, Hon. Generali Fredrick
Kimanga, whose presence energized both players and residents. Addressing the crowd, Kimanga congratulated all teams that participated in the tournament and applauded the youth for embracing sports as a tool for unity and development.
Kimanga emphasized that discipline is the foundation of success in all aspects of life, urging young people to remain focused, respectful, and committed to their goals both on and off the pitch.
In a strong show of support for grassroots sports development, the incoming MP donated full sets of uniforms and footballs to all the 14 participating teams, noting that nurturing talent at the local level is key to empowering the youth and keeping them away from negative influences.
The legislator also highlighted the importance of education, stating that it is the only equalizer that places the child of the poor and the child of the rich at the same table. He encouraged parents and guardians to prioritize education as a long-term investment for their children’s future.
Looking ahead to the 2027 General Election, Kimanga urged residents of Manze Itumo and the wider Kitui West Constituency to register as voters and acquire voter cards, calling on them to be ready to make informed decisions when the time comes. He said leadership is about service and transformation, not promises.
Kimanga reaffirmed his commitment to transform Kitui West Constituency, pledging to focus on infrastructure development, quality education, and job creation once elected as MP in 2027. He confidently stated that he is ready to take the constituency to the next level.
His remarks were warmly received by residents, who expressed confidence in his leadership and vowed to rally behind Hon. Generali Fredrick Kimanga. The locals said they believe he has the vision, capacity, and dedication required to lead Kitui West and deliver meaningful development.
