Safaricom’s Chief Corporate Security Officer, Nicholas Muinde Mulila, has urged residents of Kitui County and Kenyans at large to celebrate the Christmas festive season responsibly, safely, and with love, while conveying his Christmas and New Year goodwill message to the nation.
As a senior corporate executive at Safaricom PLC, he oversees key functions including business risk management, cybersecurity, revenue assurance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CTF), insurance, ethics and compliance, and physical security.
Speaking to the media at the Pastoral Centre in Kitui, the Safaricom executive emphasized the need for citizens to safeguard their lives during the festive period, noting that the season should be marked by joy, unity, and reflection rather than loss and tragedy. He called on Kenyans to exercise restraint as they celebrate and to remain conscious of their personal safety and that of others.
He further urged all road users to strictly observe traffic rules, warning against overspeeding and reckless driving during the holiday season. He observed that many accidents recorded during festive periods are preventable and stressed the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring safer roads.
On education, he called on parents and guardians to prioritize schooling once learning institutions reopen in January, emphasizing that education remains a key driver of personal empowerment and national development. He urged parents to ensure learners report back to school on time and receive the necessary support to continue with their studies.
He also encouraged Kenyans to demonstrate love and compassion by sharing with the less fortunate during the festive season, noting that Christmas should extend beyond personal celebrations to include acts of kindness toward those who may lack the means to celebrate. Such gestures, he noted, help strengthen social cohesion and national unity.
He concluded by urging citizens to celebrate responsibly, protect their lives, and uphold values of care, discipline, and togetherness, noting that a safe and considerate festive season would lay a positive foundation for the year ahead.
