Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korrir Sing’oe, has engaged in high-level diplomatic discussions with Vietnam in a bid to secure clemency for Kenyan national Margaret Nduta, who is facing imminent execution.
In a telephone conversation on Sunday afternoon with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Nguyen Minh Hang, Sing’oe expressed the deep concern of the Kenyan people regarding Nduta’s fate. He reiterated Kenya’s formal request for a stay of execution to allow both nations to explore a diplomatic resolution.
“I conveyed to Madam Hang the anxiety of the Kenyan people on the impending execution of our national and reiterated our request for a stay of execution,” said Sing’oe.
The Vietnamese government has acknowledged Kenya’s petition, with Deputy Minister Hang assuring that the matter is under consideration by authorities in Hanoi. Meanwhile, Kenya’s diplomatic mission in Bangkok remains actively engaged in following up on the case.
The Kenyan government continues to pursue all available avenues to secure a favorable outcome for Nduta, whose case has drawn widespread attention.
