Kenya Railways MD Philip Mainga’s Presence at Kitui West Church Fundraiser Signals Growing Focus on Ukambani Development

The Managing Director of Kenya Railways, Philip Mainga, today joined national leaders and faithful at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Kwa Mutonga, Kithumula Ward in Kitui West Constituency, during a major fundraiser aimed at completing the construction of the church.

Mainga, whose presence attracted great attention from residents and leaders alike, accompanied top national leaders to the event, further cementing his growing influence and connection with development matters in the Ukambani region.

Although the Kenya Railways MD did not address the congregation during the fundraiser, his attendance alone spoke volumes and was interpreted by many residents as a strong gesture of solidarity, commitment and goodwill toward the people of Kitui County.

Over the recent years, Philip Mainga has increasingly become a notable figure associated with development initiatives in Ukambani, with many viewing him as one of the key technocrats closely linked to President William Ruto’s broader development agenda in the region.

Faithful and residents who attended the fundraiser expressed excitement over his presence, saying it demonstrated the importance national leaders are now attaching to Kitui County and its people.
The church fundraiser brought together hundreds of worshippers, local leaders and guests who united in support of the completion of St. Martin’s Catholic Church project, a development expected to strengthen worship activities and community programs within the area.

Mainga’s appearance at the event further highlighted his growing popularity and influence beyond the transport sector, especially in matters touching on community empowerment, unity and development across the Ukambani region.
