More than 25 women’s groups in Kithungo/Kitundu Ward have received certificates and KSh40,000 each under the national government’s Women Empowerment Initiative, with a total of KSh1 million disbursed to the beneficiaries.
Former Mbooni MP and 2027 parliamentary hopeful Hon. Kisoi Munyao, widely seen by his supporters as the people’s choice for Mbooni, attended the distribution and urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds in income-generating activities.
Kisoi dismissed claims that the registration of empowerment groups is aimed at rigging elections, describing the programme as a genuine initiative designed to economically empower women at the grassroots.
He was accompanied by Mbooni Sub-County DCC Mr. Mwiti, Social Development Officer Joel Abuya and other NGAO officials.
