Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti Presides Over Swearing-in of Health Facility Committees and Hospital Boards

Machakos County on Wednesday marked a major milestone in the strengthening of its healthcare governance following the swearing-in of Level IV hospital boards and Level III and II health facility management committees.

The ceremony, held at the White House in Machakos County, was presided over by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who officially commissioned the newly appointed boards and committees, tasking them with improving service delivery and accountability in public health facilities.

Speaking during the event, Governor Ndeti emphasized the critical role of strong leadership and governance in the health sector, noting that the county government is committed to ensuring accessible, efficient and quality healthcare for all residents of Machakos.

“This commissioning is a key step in strengthening the management of our health facilities. The boards and committees are expected to uphold integrity, transparency and professionalism as they serve the people of Machakos,” the governor said.

Machakos County Minister for Health, Justus Kasivu, said the newly sworn-in members will undergo comprehensive training to equip them with the skills required to effectively execute their mandate. He disclosed that the training will be conducted at the Kenya School of Government.
Kasivu noted that the training will focus on governance, financial oversight, policy implementation and service delivery, adding that this will ensure the boards and committees operate within the law and align with national and county health objectives.

“The county government is keen on capacity building. These members will be trained on how to undertake their responsibilities professionally and in line with existing health policies,” Kasivu stated.
The main highlight of the event was the commissioning of Level IV hospital boards alongside the health facility management committees, a move expected to enhance decision-making, improve management of resources and boost the quality of healthcare services across the county.

The county government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the boards and committees as they begin their term, noting that their performance will be key to the success of Machakos’ health sector reforms.
