Machakos Health Sector Gets Digital Lift as CIHEB Donates IT Equipment

Machakos County’s push towards a modern, technology-driven healthcare system received a major boost following the donation of Information Technology (IT) equipment worth millions of shillings by the Center for International Health, Education, and Biosecurity (CIHEB).

The donation, which targets public health facilities across the county, includes tablets for capturing and managing patient data, computers, and other critical IT tools aimed at strengthening digital health systems. The equipment is expected to enhance the recording, storage, and sharing of health information, significantly improving efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in service delivery.

Speaking during the handover, Governor Wavinya Ndeti welcomed the support, describing it as a timely intervention that will accelerate the county’s digital health agenda. She noted that the adoption of technology in healthcare is no longer optional but a necessity in improving accountability, planning, and patient outcomes.
“This donation will go a long way in strengthening our health facilities by ensuring that patient information is accurately captured and easily accessible. Digital solutions are key to improving service delivery and enhancing transparency in our healthcare system,” said Governor Ndeti.

The Governor further emphasized that the county government remains committed to forging and sustaining partnerships with development agencies and institutions such as CIHEB to drive lasting reforms in the health sector. She added that collaborative efforts are essential in building a resilient, people-centered healthcare system that responds effectively to the needs of residents.

Health officials present noted that the IT equipment will support the digitization of health records, ease reporting, and reduce reliance on manual systems that often slow down service delivery. The initiative is also expected to improve data-driven decision-making within the county’s health department.

The CIHEB donation marks a significant milestone in Machakos County’s journey towards modernizing healthcare services, reinforcing the county’s commitment to leveraging innovation and partnerships to ensure accessible, efficient, and quality healthcare for all residents.
